OKUMA UNVEILS MS-320H MACHINING CENTRE FOR SMALL-BATCH EFFICIENCY
Okuma’s compact MS-320H debuts at EMO 2025, offering automated, space-saving, energy-efficient machining for small workpieces and batch production.

In industries such as automotive, semiconductor manufacturing and the production of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, staff reductions are becoming increasingly common. Production spaces are also being reduced in order to cut costs, meaning that even the smallest areas must be used efficiently. Okuma is responding to these and many other challenges in the manufacturing sector with an innovative European premiere: the Horizontal Machining Centre MS-320H. From 22 to 26 September, Okuma Europe will be demonstrating the machine live for the first time at EMO Hanover 2025 at booth D28 in hall 14.

The MS-320H enables the automation of various tasks, allowing extended runtimes without manual intervention. Three key features are especially important.

Firstly, the MS-320H can automate a wide range of production setups, from individual machining cells to multiple production lines. In particular, it is equipped with a compact automated loading cell hatch to enhance efficiency in high-volume production. Machine parts can be loaded and unloaded in seconds without requiring further input from a machine operator. The machine also features a compact footprint, making it easy to integrate into a mixed production line alongside a lathe. This eliminates the need for additional loading systems. The system can also be combined with a mobile collaborative robot, depending on the capacity requirements. An automated workpiece changer facilitates the production of a diverse range of products in relatively small quantities. The machine features eight hydraulic and pneumatic ports on the machine table for automated workpiece clamping.

The MS-320H has a sophisticated design and smart technologies that enable fully autonomous production. Chip management often encounters issues during the production process. The MS-320H features a clever design that ensures reliable, long runtimes without the need to clean the machine chamber. The vertical table arrangement prevents chips from accumulating, and a continuous chip conveyor ensures they are removed swiftly and reliably.

Various tried and tested Okuma technologies also support interruption-free production processes: The Thermo-Friendly Concept compensates for temperature-related fluctuations and contributes to high-dimensional stability during long-term continuous operation. ECO Suite Plus promotes energy-efficient production processes by recording and analysing the machine’s operating status and CO₂ emissions. The ECO Idling Stop function detects the machine’s operating status and switches off the cooling system when the machine is not in use.

The Sludgeless Tank prevents downtime by collecting contaminants such as suspended particles or metal sludge from the coolant; it is available as an optional extra.

The MS-320H saves space and processing time
Okuma has developed a Horizontal Machining Centre with a width of 1,580 mm and a depth of 3,120 mm, ensuring flexible, space-saving production of small workpieces. With a spindle speed of 15,000 rpm, large and small batch sizes can be produced easily and in the shortest possible time.
